have met their match. didn’t even have to use full power. everyone who said this Milwaukee impact was a beast is 100% correct. i think its got way more balls than the last air impact i used, and at least as much as my buddy’s 1/2” SnapOn air impact... well done Milwaukee tools, well done! now, lets talk about the fact that the motor fan and brush support armature fell apart and caught fire on my initial purchase when i put load on it the first time... i realize i should have taken pictures, but i was so shocked I put it back in the box and went back to HomeDespot for a no-hassle exchange... the second one is fine so far... but it was a bit startling. Also, one of the wheel studs on the right side pulled out, and NO, I was not running it in with impact, I had the torque wrench on it for final tightening and instead of the wrench clicking I hear “errrrk-poing!” and the wrench gets easy to turn. at first I thought I had broken the stud, but the bolt didn’t fall out... gonna have to do something about that... do not relish pulling the hub :| for now it is marked with tape... its only one of 6, so... hopefully the other five are fine.... and a sunset!

edit: A little bit of Google says the wheel stud can be replaced with the spindle on vehicle! *whew*

Edit 2: KINJAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

I have a snap on one that is about 10 years old. I use it alot more often then my air impact. Finally starting to show it’s age. I might have to grab one of these

hmmm, I was contemplating getting a new Bosch one because I get a discount. The Bosch one I am looking at does 130ish ft-lbs. Any idea what the rated torque is on this? I have an older impact driver but it won’t take off lug nuts. :-(

640 lb/ft breaking torque, 450 lb/ft driving. its a monster!

holy crap... Yeah it is. It also costs 4 times as much as the one I was looking at. I think I am going to stick with breaking loose with a breaker bar and using my weak one to take them off after that.

I’ve been contemplating buying one, but I have a really good air impact and a soso air impact. The soso one is the newer one and is supposed to be rated at 600 but it’s not. The old one was my dad’s and it says it’s rated at 450 and i know that is low.

that's pretty steep. And it caught fire the first time you went to use it? I would have been irate that something that expensive had that poor of QC!

The number of very positive reviews out in the world for this tool would seem to indicate that I managed to get very (un)lucky. The people at the HomeDepot service counter were all incredulous about it too... they’re like “A Milwaukee, really?” but the replacement one is fine (so far), so... It’s not cheap, but if you look for other cordless impacts with those torque specs it’s actually not only one of the most powerful you can buy, period, it’s way cheaper than most of the competition...

Looking at tools I suspect Milwaukee has started to sell out somewhat, making their stuff a lot more inexpensively. Looking around a lot of the manufacturers have, it makes me unhappy. I'm a complete "old man" about tools I want quality stuff and I'd like it to have been made in America (Germany is an acceptable substitute).

Definitely keep the receipt in a safe place

Yeah it is crazy powerful putting out that much torque must mean it wrecks batteries/needs special ones.

actually, battery life is pretty fantastic... modern motors and electronic speed controls are something... also I do have a huge-ass 5.0Ah battery for it. Receipt is safe.

I know what you mean about “cheapening”... one of the reasons I DIDN’T buy the Craftsman unit, actually... I’ll just mini-rant and say: Remember this is all a direct result of the “Corporation As Monetary Asset” theory pushed by the WallStreet investors to further the fortunes of their already rich-as-fuck clients. The race to the bottom in quality (and worker pay) is the only way to sustain the Myth Of The Growth Economy and and the 99% get screwed in more ways than one. Planned obsolescence, higher profit margins, lower prices and higher sales volume play into the hands of the optimistic-but-ignorant consumer who believes the economic pundits when they tell him/her to “buy more! it stimulates the economy!” oh he/she says, “this isn’t that expensive, I can afford to buy it! I’ll help the economy and raise my own standard of living!” and they *ARE* but they help the Rich the most, and they don’t even realize that the products they buy, though highly quality-controlled due to automated manufacturing, are in fact, intentionally designed to be shittier than they ever have been before in the name of volume and profitability designed to satisfy the Mega-Rich investors...

Bernie for President!

Sorry to hear about the tool issues, that's certainly strange. You may want to email Milwaukee corporate, they might throw you some free stuff. Glad its working well for you otherwise.

I managed to snap off a M12 bolt for my skid plate last night with mine, so now I'm shopping for good extractors.

I don't support blaming anyone but ourselves for the way things are. The "mega rich" investors are for are as much as anything else just the people who manage our retirement accounts.

The problem is we all want more for less, this is the global economy giving us that.

The way brand equity is used is unfortunate especially since more than anything it prays on the ignorant. Of course with a smart phone in everyone's hand it is willful ignorance and so once again, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

The other side of brand equity is the snob appeal rat race, and there's no one to blame but ourselves for that as well.

willful ignorance is indeed the direct cause, but that willful ignorance is fostered by the Christian political right and funded by some of the richest people in the country. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that the political right tried to tell the Texas school system it should stop teaching critical thinking because it "leads to questioning authority and un-needed dissatisfaction with station in life" Orly u say?

Religion largely provides good moral guidelines that make a solid basis for law. Instead of focusing on the overall message to many people get hung up on minor points leading to terrible hypocrisy and losing what should make it good and useful

the number of people who seem completely oblivious to the gestalt message of the Ten Commandments and the various teachings of Jesus just blows my mind. I’m not practicing any religion, and would generally count myself as an “atheist-leaning agnostic” but I went to Sunday School as a kid I read the Bible (not all of it, but the big important bits...) and the twisted ways people find to interpret what seems to be a pretty straightforward message —basically distills down to “don’t be an asshole, some people are wrong and you should try to help them, but you should also respect and try to love them as they’re basically like you, and, oh yeah, since you have free-will and shit, don’t be an asshole.”- amazes me.
